They wrote about KKUI and also about us in the publication Market Analysis – Industry 4.0
The ATP Journal published the publication Market Analysis – Industry 4.0, which also contains the chapter Industry 4.0 at universities – Slovak universities and the integration of Industry 4.0 into their educational, scientific and research activities.
About the Technical University in Košice – about us, they wrote this:
“Probably the most comprehensive approach to Industry 4.0 is at the Technical University in Košice at the Department of Cybernetics and Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Informatics. Department under the leadership of prof. Ing. Petr Sinčák, CSc., Has set the Industry 4.0 concept as a serious priority for education, research and development. Many elements of Industry 4.0 have been taught for some time in the subject of industrial information systems architecture. From the 2016/2017 school year, two completely new subjects will be opened, focusing exclusively on the Industry 4.0 concept, namely Industry 4.0 and intelligent systems and the Internet of Things. Since the autumn of 2016, the department has been teaching fifteen subjects with a closer or looser connection to Industry 4.0 (multi-agent and network control systems, cloud technology applications, web technologies and more).
The department is also extremely active in the field of research, development and cooperation with commercial companies. Its Laboratory of Intelligent Cybernetic Systems under the leadership of prof. Ing. Iveta Zolotová, CSc., Is primarily engaged in data acquisition, systems management and analytics. He researches in many areas, such as smart living, smart space, smart manufacturing, collective intelligence, computer vision and more. “These topics are becoming more and more topical as new cyber-physical systems produce data that has not been available before. The Internet of Things opens the gates to a new era of information management systems. At the same time, in managing the onslaught of data, it is necessary to overcome the challenges of their effective acquisition, selection of appropriate analyzes and production of suitable results. Our team believes that the key to the solution is the use of cloud technologies, “says I. Zolotová.
In the industrial sphere, the laboratory has been cooperating with the local US Steel plant for some time. His team has recently been involved in process innovation at the factory. In cooperation with the technical departments of the steel plant, three significant innovative projects were implemented there – a universal communication module as a replacement for portable terminals, inspection of cranes using barcode readers and the use of barcode readers to monitor the flow of work in progress. Close cooperation is also taking place with technology giant IBM; the department uses an intelligent IBM Watson expert system and cloud applications. In mid-February, the lab received a $ 20,000 research grant from Microsoft to provide access to the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform. There is also lively cooperation with other companies such as T-Systems Slovakia,
